When I was in Berlin two years ago I was full of nostalgia, reminiscing my early teenage years when Land of confusion was being played in radio.
Then it suddenly happened, the crumpling of the cold war . I watch it all, live reportage of people hammering and bulldozers in swinging action to tear down the wall.
Today is the 20th anniversary of the fall of wall. I watched the news, Al Jazeera and heard Angela Merkel give a speech to the German nation “
It is easy to give back occupied land, but it is hard to give back lost opportunities
I mixed the surrounding feelings that were present twenty years ago, hope, prosperity, peace with the present day on my current location, the wall between Israel and Lebanon. It is far more complex here than in Merkels world . I played with the sentence and what would the future prime minister of Israel hopefully say in 20 odd years or so.
It is hard to give back occupied land but it is easy to give back lost opportunities
Israeli settlements, the government has actually paid foreign Jews to live in these sheltered houses. It was strange for me to watch. I knew about the settlement scheme of the Israeli, its pretty childish, like saying “ we live here now, planted our root and build a deadly fence so bugger of” But watching how land was cut out like a cake piece and now by geological boarders and geographic degrees was really weird.
Fatima gate. Two electrical fences, where tanks drive in between. On curtain place concrete wall are erected
There was a hole in the wall; I noticed that there Israelis having a Pick of some soft on the olive three plantations. I waved at them, they hesitated, I waved again as you greet your neighbor, they looked, actually stared and then they smiled and waved back. Winking? When we left the scene a black pickup truck stopped behind us, we were being followed by the Hezbollah..
Hezbollah flags waving in the wind, showing their non approval the Israeli settlements.
No children this is not a playhouse!!!
One of the newly arrived local residents, stepping aside for a call of nature with a smile.
Tomorrow the government will be established, 6 month since the election, I hope that the time was worth it and all the parties will realize that the grass is greener where you are if you remember to water it.
